Collecting by type has always been a wonderful way to collect and when I was a collector, it was truly my favorite. The beauty of collecting by type is that you can customize it totally to suit your tastes and pocketbook. Whether you want to collect every type in the Redbook, do a Twentieth Century collection or any thing in between, it is totally up to you! There is something about getting a nice assortment of coins side by side and looking at the different nuances that went with each type and timeframe that takes us out of the confining present and transports us to a timeless world of endless possibilities. In the copper, nickel and silver types, probably  the most elusive type is the small eagle reverse half dollar, minted only in 1796 and 1797.

It is a rare day when a coin dealer offers one of these elusive beauties. Amazingly enough, at DLRC we are currently offering two! Both are very nice for the grade and authentically pleasing. The first is a 1796 50c 15 Stars PCGS XF40 [4*****] and it represents one of the very finest we have ever handled. The second specimen is the 1797 50c PCGS/CAC F15 [4*****]. This coin is more affordable but very wholesome and an exceptional example for the type. However you choose to pursue your collecting endeavors, we are happy to help and will work to provide you with great coins at reasonable prices. Happy collecting!!
