This coin show (I will combine the two shows for convenience), like others, was a marathon rather than a sprint — but is especially noteworthy because we came back with the best set of new purchases that I ever recall. Continued...

David Lawrence Rare Coins will be heading up to Boston, Massachusetts this week for the ANA’s Annual World’s Fair of Money. It promises to be an exciting show as it is truly the most important numismatic even of the year. We at DLRC are excited to be able to spend a week and a half in Boston this year as it is one of our favorite cities. There has not… Continued...

It Sure is Hot Out Here…
It’s been a while since my last market report, so I’m long overdue writing this entry. The coin market has been humming along steadily and business has been pretty good. Not great, but good.
I’ve been reading blogs from other dealers and most often I get the vibe the the coin market is “really hot” or “just about to be really hot”, or… Continued...

We arrived by plane, train, and automobile (actually not train) on Tuesday… Continued...

On Friday, May 28, the numismatic community learned of lawsuit filed by Collectors Universe (the parent company of PCGS) against a group of so-called coin doctors. There’s no reason to rehash the details of this lawsuit as you can find good information the Coinlink.com site, including a PDF of the actual filing.
From my perspective, action against the “coin doctors” has been overdue. For years… Continued...

We at David Lawrence Rare Coins decided to attend the Nashville show at half-staff, with only me, John Brush, attending. After a busy past few weeks (3 shows in 4 weeks!), we didn’t see the value in wearing ourselves down more than we already were. That being said, I was more than willing to attend the numismatic extravaganza this week as Nashville is… Continued...

The “Plus” grading is brilliant because it’s a win-win for PCGS and the consumer but it does have some flaws. Continued...
