Results from last night's sale of the "Picky Collection" were superb. The collection which large consisted of Bust half dollars, was assembled over the past decade by a very astute collector of these coins and was superb in quality.

Collectors are getting tired of hearing how there are now fresh coins out there...blah, blah, blah....
But it's really true.
We haven't seen anything like the regular flow of fresh coin collections coming from our clients in the last 18 months, like we had in years prior. It's hard to explain the phenomenon but collector's are keeping the prized numismatic holding close to their chests. Prices have come down across the board… Continued...

2009 was one of those years that came in like a lamb but is going out like a lion. The majority of this year seemed to mirror the greater economy. Buyers were cautious and expected that prices would fall over the course of the year -- and they did. Not in all series, but prices generally followed a downward trends this year.

It's now been about 3 weeks since we've returned from ANA show and we've been pleasantly surprised by the buzz of activity here in the office. We had expected things to quiet down for the last few weeks of Summer but business has been brisk. Not only have our ANA purchases been actively finding new homes, but we've also been getting some great, fresh collections in house.
