Bought by DLRC for Nearly $150,000 Last Week!

It’s now been about 3 weeks since we’ve returned from ANA show and we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the buzz of activity here in the office. We had expected things to quiet down for the last few weeks of Summer but business has been brisk. Not only have our ANA purchases been actively finding new homes, but we’ve also been getting some great, fresh collections in house.

Big coins have been great sellers these past few weeks and we’ve sold a number of pricey key issues. This has been exciting as it indicates a return to the health of the numismatic marketplace that we’ve be hoping for. Our most exciting transaction of the past week was the acquisition of a 1907 High Relief Saint graded PCGS MS67. The seller owned the coin for a decade and, according to him, offered “to over 40 dealers via email.” Guess who responded, and got the deal done? DLRC! After 3-4 emails back and forth, we settled on a price (around $150,000!) and Jason Smith flew to Florida and picked the coin up with a bank wire. No hassles. The seller was delighted and we’ve already sold the coin. We don’t play games here. If you have good coins to sell, contact us! We’re ready to do business.

The Market in General

The biggest dealers seem to be finding the coin market healthy as well, but we still are hearing of guys with cash flow issues. That comes as no surprise in this economy, of course, and I see some changes in the marketplace as a result. For example, National Gold Exchange is gone which has created a void in their space (better date & generic gold). Here at DLRC we have a very healthy balanace sheet and banking partner and we’re excited about the opportunites of the next year or two.

Summer Sunset Collection

Summer Sunset Collection

Summer Sunset Collection coming next week…

As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, John Brush departed the ANA show early to pick up an exciting collection of over 1,100 slabs from a private collector. The Summer Sunset Collection, as it is known here, is one of the most extensive groupings we’ve auctions in years and we expect collectors will be excited to participate. Most of the coins average about $500 in value, but there are some key dates, including an 1895 Morgan graded PCGS Proof 64.

Bidding for the Summer Sunset will begin as early as this Friday if we can get everything cataloged and imaged.

I am currently in production of our third video. It will be posted by Wednesday, Aug. 26.

I’ve gotten soome great response from my first two efforts. Yes, as my kids are only too happy to tell me, I have a lot to improve on! But I love the intimacy of speaking to my clients in person. Please give me any and all feedback. I’d love to hear from you.
