Well, it’s just the Thursday evening of the show and JB (John Brush) and I are happy to report that we’ve survived this long… Ok, that sounds a bit facetious, but this has been one of the most frenzied show events in a long time.
I say “event” because the FUN show starts for us the week prior to the main show with a pre-show event at a nearby hotel. We arrived at the pre-show on Sunday expecting business to be tepid with time for a little R&R before the main show. Boy, were we wrong. The show started quietly with just a handful of dealers on Sunday and built momentum with a peak on Tuesday — and the show was full of dealers arriving in town from all over the country.
The word among dealers is that December was much better than expected. We’ve gotten used to a quiet 2009 and December closed the year out with a bang. And, like the rest of the country, we’ve all been waiting for some good news like that to energize us so this was the best holiday gift of all.
Coins are selling!
On the buying and selling end, this FUN show was our best ever, and I’m writing this on Thursday night! JB and I are really excited about the new purchases and consignments that we’ve got coming in for next week’s auctions so stay tuned…

p.s. I know most of the country is experience below-average temps this week, but to spend a week in Orlando with lows of 30 degrees is a real eye-opener! Glad I didn’t bother to pack shorts this week.
