Whew…it’s been a very busy couple of weeks here at the office. I’m a bit behind no my updates, but better late than never I suppose. Last Thursday we closed Auction #383, which featured Part IV of the Old Mission Collection (OMC).
This portion of the OMC contained a number of common and slightly better-date Saints, Walkers anda handful of dated Barber quarters. Nothing was rare, except the “freshness” of the coins which were decidely nice. A majority of them recevied CAC stickers as further testimony to this.
In this current market of tepid buying we didn’t plan for a great rush of bids. We knew the coins were nice, but would buyers get excited??? The answer was a resounding YES. Both collectors and dealers fought for these coins and the action was truly exciting for buyers/seller and us as well. Overall, the Old Mission IV group realized $243,180 on reserves of $200,036! That’s better than 20% over the reserve amount (all figures include 15% buyer’s premium).
The consingor of the OMC Collection is very happy with the results and Part V is forthcoming and will be sold in conjuntion with the Summer ANA Show in L.A.
The benefit of going with DLRC Auctions: As the current numismatic auction market continues to evolve and adjust to current market conditions, we are seeing a number of changes among our competitors. Foremost is that the major houses are requiring consignors to sell without reserve. This is an extremely dangerous practice for esoteric collectibles (yes, coins are esoteric — they are not T-Bills) and we highly advise against this practice. Of course, if you place reserves at these larger houses, you are charged buy-back fees for any items that don’t meet these reserves.
NO BUYBACK FEES AT DLRC. We won’t charge you buyback fees for your consingment, and we will work with you personally to set reserves that make sense. And, as you can see form the results of the OMC, we get top dollar for your coins.
How do we get top dollar compared to the live auction houses?
It’s simple, really. Your collection is featured as the primary item in our auction. It doesn’t get lost in huge catalog with other collections and John Brush and I take the time to personally show these lots to the biggest dealer buyers in the country as well. Jason and Matt are here in the office giving white-glove service to our retail clients at the same time. And you, the consignor, are the winner. If you are considering the sale or consignment of your collection, please contact me today so we can work together.
