Collectors are getting tired of hearing how there are now fresh coins out there…blah, blah, blah….

But it’s really true.

We haven’t seen anything like the regular flow of fresh coin collections coming from our clients in the last 18 months, like we had in years prior. It’s hard to explain the phenomenon but collector’s are keeping the prized numismatic holding close to their chests. Prices have come down across the board in this time period, and I’m guessing folks don’t want to lose money on their collections. Sure, at a profit we’d see more sellers, and I think this fueled the activity in the late 1990′s.

I’m happy to report that David Lawrence has secured two very nice collections in the past few few weeks which should excite a lot of collectors. The first is a small group of fresh type coins (proof and MS) that we sold a client about 12 years ago…We call it “The Paradise Found Collection”. About half the coins received CAC stickers when we sent them in…boy were they tough. There’s a proof trade dollar in this collection (old PCGS holder) that is a lock Proof 67+, maybe even a 68, except for a light hairline scratch from Liberty’s knee. C’mon CAC….boy are you tough! Either way, the collector will win bidding on any of the PCGS and NGC coins in this collection.

The second coin collection in auction is even more impressive… The Picky Collection is an AMAZING group of 90+ bust coins (mostly halves). We called it the “Picky Collection” as the collector was sooo fussy. It paid off as most of the coins CAC’d, giving it their seal of approval. If you love Bust coinage check this out.

The collections both have very fair reserves (below market in my opinion) and the sell-thru rates should approach 100% on both. It’s hard to find fresh material right now, so check it out…

In the meantime, if you have rare coins to sell or consign to auction, we hope to hear from you! We’ve got plenty of cash to offer for outright purchase, or great consignor terms if you want to go that route. Thanks!
